If you know anything about me from reading about my random adventures here on SoF, I really enjoy Stargrave/Silver Bayonet/etc. Actually, I’ve never played Frostgrave, but it’s on my list of things to acquire this year.
As you may or may not know Joy of Wargaming on the YouTubes has just started a brand new series on solo rpg the original Traveller. He is also doing solo rpg AD&D. It’s a great little series full of interesting ideas. And it made my brain start thinking. What if we took the random tables from Traveller, but played them out using the Stargrave rules?
I’ve never gotten into the whole solo wargaming thing, but I also don’t have any friends, I mean I don’t have any friends into wargaming that live close to me. But what I do have is a bunch of children. So why not kill two birds with one stone? Create new wargaming friends from my captive audience of children? And spend more time with my children that doesn’t consist of screen time.
So I’m going to try and marry up some Traveller random encounters/patrons/etc, and play those out with Stargrave solo/coop rules.
The point of this is many-fold, of course. I want to play more games. I don’t want to keep waiting until Joe McCullough writes another supplement. I want to play fun games with my toys. And last, but not least, I want to print/paint some new toys.
