Space 1999 Hawk Mark IX model kit by MPC

I am going to the Harrisburg Comic-Con this weekend, and I have a rule (more a guideline, really) that I should finish the stuff I bought at the previous event before going to the next one. Having finished the couple of 3D printed buildings I bought there some time ago, I only had to complete this Space: 1999 Hawk Mark IX model kit from MPC.

At the time, I had hoped to use this as a bit of scenery for one of the many starport battles we were doing for the Xiandao Campaign, perhaps as a light cargo lander. Well, the 10″ length advertised on the box was correct, but I didn’t take into account that this would make the fuselage barely an inch tall and wide, obviously too small for even 25mm minis.

That said, it is a very cool model and will serve well in 15mm and smaller scales. Here’s a picture with a 15mm Cobra Viper and 12mm Heavy Gear miniatures (if you squint, you can see the 12mm Terra Novan infantryman next to the Gear).

If I ever paint my 10mm Masters of the Universe minis, this will also make a great lost relic starship, like the one they found Roboto in.

What are some good sci-fi model kits you use in your wargaming? Let me know in the comments.
