I’ve managed to make some more progress on new skirmish board, incorporating all my toys (3d printing, Laser Engraving, and Crafting).
I picked up some insulation foam from the Home Depot a few weeks ago, and cut it to size to get my layout where I wanted it.
I then decided that I didn’t want to carve caverns, so I took some files I had from Aether Studios, and have been printing those out.
Finally, I noticed that I had a small gap between my 1 inch foam, and my 1 inch cavern pieces. I’ve had this piece of 1/4″ plywood for a while. I’m not even sure why I bought it to begin with. But as King Solomon says, “The Diligent make use of everything they find”. (I probably misuse this quote to justify all kinds of junk to buy).
I found a file online by searching for caverns, caves, etc. Until I found one I thought was useful. After that I had to convert it to an SVG, and then load it into Lightburn. I will probably put out a quick tutorial next week on these steps, and my laser set up.
After that it was a simple procedure to burn the pattern into my plywood, and voila, I’m starting to get what I think is a really cool skirmish board for Stargrave, Frostgrave, Kill Team, One Page Rules, etc.
You could use this for some Viking excursions into the new world, Romans exploring some cave system in the Alps, etc. Your imagination is the only limit.
